Originally catering to family and friends, word spread throughout the community making Grandma Kuehnlein's (pronounced "key-line") a popular local spice. This phenomenon was started by my uncle in Monroe County, Michigan and has been spreading across Southeastern Michigan-and beyond-ever since. When demand overwhelmed our small production we decided to kick it up a notch!

The Story Behind This Monroe Favorite!

As the story goes, Uncle Tim found Grandma's half-full jar of spices and brought it to his deer-processing shop to use in the "scraps skillet" while he was working with his team. It went over like gang-busters! He got more and more volunteers who wanted to help him process deer, just so they could sneak bits of venison with this magical mix of spices.

But the jar started to empty, so he sent it off to be tested. After getting a list of possible spices, he mixed and tweaked and tested batch after batch until he was able to replicate the mysterious jar!

As Uncle Tim shared Grandma Kuehnlein's Secret Recipe with friends and family, they did the same, and its popularity grew. Uncle Tim was flooded with requests from people who wanted their own jar of Grandma Kuehnlein's. These new people found more awesome and creative ways to use the spice, too!
